Re: Pluck Playtest Questions

It seems we view Force Morale differently. To me it means the troops morale is dropping and they are going to ground or edging away from the fight without their unit leaders able to motivate them. Purposely calling off a battle is for me a decision made by the senior commander (the player) before Fo...

Re: Boxer Rebellion

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have "55 Minutes at Peking" rules but fear it will not work as is since I don't have the space. The Boxer Rebellion is one of my favorite colonial episodes and I do like your ideas for expanding a game beyond the legation siege. A campaign must surely include the siege si...

Re: Pluck Playtest Questions

Yes, to me Force Morale represents the attitude of the troops. I know the (Victorian "hot blooded") Highlanders were rattled in one fight but don't know of this happening with the (again Victorian "cold blooded") English troops. Calling off a fight seems to me to be a player as CIC decision. Yes, pe...

Re: Boxer Rebellion

Emilio
I like your ideas. I have "55 Minutes at Peking" and am still trying to find time for it. I need an alternate system from the one in the article as I don't have an 8 foot playing area.

Keep us posted on this please.

Re: Pluck Playtest Questions

I now understand the use of Force Morale in the context of the Boer War. My initial questioning was based on difficulty in seeing British and particularly English troops giving up the fight without superior orders while undisciplined Boers might stay the course. One question: Do machine guns move as...

Re: Pluck Playtest Questions

I've only done Talana Hill so far so I may be wrong about applying Force Morale on top of the Clock and effects of Shock. My impression is that Force Morale is a case of the majority of the troops deciding "it's over" for themselves. It seems to me that time running out and Shock covers this. Weren'...

Re: Pluck Playtest Questions

Hoping to play Elandslaagte scenario in the next day or two but I'm wondering if the Force Morale rule is necessary. The clock and effect of Shock seem to cover the real events well. I like the Force Morale idea in CoC and will apply it to IABSM but wonder if it isn't a layer too much for the Boer W...

Re: Pluck Playtest Questions

Thanks Rich. I really like the "clock" idea. Still trying to be sure I've used the Tactical cards correctly.

Re: Pluck Playtest Questions

1 artillery base is 1 to 3 guns. As far as I know British batteries are 6 guns, 2 bases. I think some Naval guns are one gun. Boers are 1 to 3 guns. I played Talana Hill scenario and not being sure of the base distances for Boers used the open order distance as that is how they are targeted. For Bri...
