Re: Charges again

Hi Chaps Yesterday I had a similar situation when my opponent and I were trying a run through the rules after a long break. I had a foot artillery battery limbered on the right side of my brigade which was advancing. I had an Infantry battalion to the left of them, one following the guns and another...

Re: First Game - Thoughts and Impressions

Glad you enjoyed the game Ian. I must say that after reading the rules a few times I felt I had found the "Grai" I had been looking for. I now just need to find someone who feels the same🤔 They have certainly rekindled my interest in Napoleonics which have always been my first love. Look forward to ...

Re: Cavalry formations

Hi John
As contemporary of yours, I think the comment at the end of your post was the real pearl of wisdom!

Re: Death Of the Skirmish Screen

I second the thanks for that explanation and insight David. Very helpful indeed!

I confess that up until GdA my attitude to skirmish units was just as you said...expendable and relatively insignificant to the overall brigade.

I like GdA more the deeper I get into them.

Re: Artillery Battery

Hi John
Yes that does help, thanks.
Maybe I was playing the rules rather than the period.
Thanks for your helpful contribution, much appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Artillery Batter

Hi John Thanks for your comments. I can see the sense in what you say. I have not been able to find anything in the rules to prevent the attached battery being given an order of its own, I just instinctively thought it could not. It seemed the same as giving an individual battalion a different order...

Artillery Batter

Hi All I hope this has not been covered earlier, but yesterday we encountered a question regarding artillery batteries which I hope you can answer. This is only our third game so please bear with me. We were playing Austrian v French and the Armies were four brigades each. Each brigade in turn had a...

Re: Beginners questions - cavalry brigades and artillery uni

With you positive there John.
I think 1809!is a "compact" campaign and was inspired to have a go whilst reading the trilogy by Jack Gill.
Lots of information there Mervyn with extensive orders of battle and a great narrative with helpful maps too. Highly recommended.
