IABSM AAR: 3RTR at Hames Boucres

Time for another lockdown game of I Ain’t Been Shot, Mum against K, Daughter #1’s boyfriend, trapped with us for the duration. I used scenario #3 from the Defence of Calais scenario pack: 3RTR at Hames-Boucres. I would take the Brits, K would play the Germans. The game begins as a squadron of Britis...

Re: some newbie questions

Hiya Welcome to the world of Lard! I know what you mean about some rules not being expressly stated, but it's usually possible to use common sense to get to the answer. 1. 3 out 6 see the enemie and can fire? the squad normally had eg.3 dice to start with, how many dice can you roll? If only three i...

The September War #01: Chojnice

It was time for the first lockdown game of I Ain’t Been Shot, Mum! The daughter’s boyfriend K (trapped here for the duration) had tried and enjoyed To The Strongest, it was now time to introduce him to WW2 gaming, and what better place to start than with a game of IABSM set in Poland on 1st Septembe...

Re: Basing figures

My advice would be to minimise the amount of bases you have per squad. Most of my figures (15mm) are based individually as I like casualty removal and to have the figures conform to the terrain they are in. They look really good, but are a real pain to move around, especially in the heat of battle. ...

IABSM AAR: Szack!

Time to break out the I Ain’t Been Shot, Mum again with a scenario taken from the second September War scenario book: #60 Szack. Szack was a small village in what was south-eastern Poland (it’s now just inside Ukraine) that was the site of a backwards-and-forwards series of actions between the Poles...

Re: Infantry in half tracks, MG use

There's a lot of info on this in the front section of the Bashnya or Bust scenario book, which I'm sure you have!

Re: IABSM handbooks - any use to CoC players?

I think they are marvellous, incredibly useful for CoC, and could only be improved by the addition of a cover-mounted bacon sandwich! But seriously, they are designed to be complementary, with Big Rich and I often sharing our research. As IABSM models a platoon without necessarily including every me...

Re: how many blinds do you start with?

Hi One Blind for that HQ. Generally CiC would start with the HQ element. Note that some scenarios allow you to parcel out a Company's HQ element between the different platoons e.g. let's take a German company with an HQ element of two MMG teams and three platoons of infantry. Here I could deploy und...

IABSM: The Gap

Here’s a battle report from a game of I Ain’t Been Shot, Mum played last weekend against John and Dave. Unusually for us, the scenario was late war, eastern front: with the Soviets rushing forwards to secure a gap in a ridge that the Germans were also seeking to block. It was a very close run thing,...
