Benito, The 45' point is irrelevant in my view. The arc of fire of a formation in line is directly ahead so any unit within those flanking lines would potentially be hit. The only way that he could avoid having some of the hits on the British unit would be to invoke the rule at the foot of page 46 ...

Hi Being the affected part (as cunning KGL player) let me argue that they where 12 inches away from the river and there were a bridge on their left Should they move 12 inches and be made prisoners by the winning dragon (10 inches away) or should they run towards the bridge?
