Re: I Ain't been Nuked, Mum!

Very valid point on ATGM ranges, scales and size of the table ... I guess ranges with more modern FCS and weapons are going to bean issue.

Re: I Ain't been Nuked, Mum!

The fundamental difference that I (personally) would like to see modelled is the longer flight time allowing some sort of reaction from the target ... This means lower ROF for missile units. From all the videos coming out of Syria, flight times can be 20-30 seconds, and that's for some very modern h...

Re: I Ain't been Nuked, Mum!

I'd be interested to hear details of the ATGM mechanics you've used.

Re: supplements written for second ed?

Being new to the game, I'd love to see v3 books for early war and desert, the 2 that were done (Normandy & Mid/Late Russia) are excellent!

Re: Fire from open-topped vehicles

Indeed ... but reserved dice get used or removed at the break card and any inflicted pins get removed afterwards. In an ideal world I want to fire my MGs/support weapons, pin the enemy and then assault ... getting this in sync, sometimes this works (the cards are in order), sometimes it doesn't (the...

Re: Fire from open-topped vehicles

Thanks Mike, interesting read. The tricky bit is synchronising your different arms in a game where turns are completely random and you can't use BM ... say you want your artillery and MGs to fire and suppress the target, as you tanks lead the infantry in an attack. Difficult if your support weapons ...

Re: Fire from open-topped vehicles

My understanding is that's what the old argument in the British army about the 432 revolved around for a long while - if you stick a decent cannon or ATGW on it, people will think its a tank and start using it as such which is dangerous. The allies had the M3 half-track, but my understanding is that...

Re: Cards

Buy a box of business card sized blank white cards and write them out with a felt pen ... not pretty, but if you find yourself liking the system, then you can always upgrade!

Re: Fire from open-topped vehicles

No problem John. I'm still learning IABSM, but they are indeed a great set of rules.

Re: Fire from open-topped vehicles

Thanks John. First off, I'm an arm-chair 'solider' and I have the greatest respect for anyone who puts their life on the line for their country - so, you are right, I have no experience of shooting a MG from a moving half-track while being shot at. I value your comment on how difficult it is. Intere...
