Re: Anyone working on 1939 Japanese?

Well I have gone for 4 sections of 13 and a 13 man GD section . Thus I reckon I can cover most bases. Mind you now I have to do an Engineer section with all the options.. This. Have you had any ideas on what to use? The size of the main platoon doesn't give you much change from two whole box...

Re: Leaders can run 'at the double' all the time?

On a serious note, I suspect that commanding a platoon and commanding an army, require very different skills and somebody who is good at one is not necessarily good at the other (if, indeed, at all). Both men were above average generals, so.....

Re: Leaders can run 'at the double' all the time?

Presumably Runstedt did at some point, but not in combat. Patton would have commanded a troop, but given his literacy problems he might well have spelled it p-l-a-t-o-o-n. To be fair, Patton competed in the modern pentathlon - which sounds a bit like platoon - at the 1912 Olympics (and was the highe...

Re: Leaders can run 'at the double' all the time?

Given that Patton was a cavalryman, and Runstedt seems to have spent almost all of his early career as a staff officer, I suspect that opportunities to exercise their running skills might have been limited.

Re: Anyone working on 1939 Japanese?

Just to check, so the 1941-45 organisation was (theoretically, at least):- Platoon HQ - officer, senior NCO*, 2-3 runners/admin men Rifle Squad (x3) - NCO*, 10 riflemen + LMG crew (2 men) GL Squad (x1) - NCO*, 9 riflemen + 3 GLs (1 man each) I'm looking at Malaya 1942, so I assume this would apply (...
