Re: British Infantry Platoon HQ Leader Question

You could have him as "decoration" on a JOP though.

Buildings in Infamy, Infamy!

I've seen a lot of folk making up elaborate Romanesque buildings (walled farms, villas, temples etc), but what exactly is the status of a building in I/I as opposed to a fortification/defensive work? Are they principally decorative, or are they supposed to be more functional, or does the player have...

Re: 29, Let's Go! campaign (updated 12 06 20)

Any reason Dave didn't move his tank forward sooner - too focused on moving up the infantry, perhaps? I felt that some HE and MMG fire from the tank might have caused you more problems, but easy to be wise after the event! (You can keep my dice, they seem to be working a little better for you now - ...

Re: Japanese Captured vehicles

Nice find TT. Looks like the Japanese were also happy to cram more men into one than the British were. Clearly the secret here is that Japanese bottoms are narrower than Western European ones (I am unreliably informed that some rugby clubs may have devised witty songs in order to help their members...

Re: BEF PSC?

Just realized that there is a third BEF campaign "Strawberries for Elephants" in the 2014 Summer Special. This is a good first campaign in that it has very limited support options so you don't need as much kit as in many other campaigns. Just be aware that all the links in the "Notes and Sources" s...

Re: British Peninsular War Dragoons

Levi - All four of the "native" British hussar units (7th, 10th, 15th and 18th) served in the Peninsula at various times, as did all three KGL hussar regiments. Blackout - I would agree with John (Archdukek) that light cavalry are your best option, as the heavy cavalry were usually kept in reserve ...

Re: Share your favourite house rules

Multiple phases - the last CoC game I played, I had a squad (with accompanying SL as well as its own JL) caught in the open for 5 consecutive turns and wiped out; all four of my "shit happens" rolls (lost team, lost 2nd team/squad, lost JL,lost SL) were double drops and that was my FM of 8 totally g...

Re: 29, Let's Go! campaign (updated 30 05 20)

Another tremendous write-up - thank you. Interesting point about the buildings not helping your defence. In one of the recent Oddcasts, Nick remarked that wargamers tend to be obsessed with occupying buildings, whereas in reality, troops tended to do what you did in this game, namely dig entrenchmen...

Don’t fear the Schlepper.
Nice idea, but I think a Jewish Blue Oyster Cult might fail the kosher inspection!
