Play the period, not ATSE. The only logical progression is that the entrenchments and minefields stay where they are.

Just realized that there is a third BEF campaign "Strawberries for Elephants" in the 2014 Summer Special. This is a good first campaign in that it has very limited support options so you don't need as much kit as in many other campaigns.

Fair enough if its for game balance but MMG are no more prone to stoppages than other automatic weapons and some decidely more reliable. Historically gun teams have a NCO. They were more often used in pairs or more than single pieces. Historically Platoon leaders are too busy controlling their Plat...

In my gaming I always give MMGs a Junior Leader. And I have used special MMG rules to make them the battlefield-dominating weapons they realy were. Interested in your homebrew rules...
