Re: Going Tactical

Just a small clarification, movement is not required to go Tactical: Section and Team Actions A Section or Team that has been activated may elect to do any one of the following: Make no movement and adopt a Tactical stance, seeking out the best cover where they are. Place a Tactical Marker with the ...

Re: Questions on Gerrman units

I am very fond of the fortifications and entrenchments from AnyScale models. Very light on the pocketbook and very easy to paint. They come in sizes from long team to “whole Italian section”.

Re: Armoured vehicle forced off table

As per section 12 of the FAQ, “Q: If a vehicle retires off the table due to being obliged to reverse off the table edge, is it removed from the game completely. A: Yes, it is. As with any unit leaving the table.” You may want to think about deploying your vehicles sideways, so they “back up” up or d...

Re: French or Americans (or Russkies...)

Soviets will definitely give a new tactical challenge. Their single “team” squads call for careful command decisions. They lack multiple senior leaders, so both Shock management and command initiatives give them issues. Their low platoon cost also allows for more support choices, giving them more to...

Re: Firing over wheat field

According to page 32, third bullet point, “Where three or more types of light cover intervene between the firer and the target this should be considered hard cover.” There is no mention of linear obstacles. I would count them in hard cover. But this could change by scenario. Many of the PSC’s give c...

John, many other game systems measure that way, including pre-8th edition 40k. Your “friends” are probably confounding the rules from previous play experiences.

Re: HE Effect walls/forests

As per page 46: “Roll for each Team (not Section or Squad), treating them as an Effective Range target and reducing cover by one level for any hits when rolling on Table 5, Hit Effect. Any troops in woodland or orchards will be treated as a Close Range target...” Off table mortars always the troop q...

Re: New to CoC - Soviet tactics?

Just some more guidance on deployment Ledfoot. Chain of Command is unlike most tabletop games in that your troops don’t hit the table until you need them to. After years of playing other games where your troops all start on the table, in nice delineated deployment zones, it can feel “off” not to dro...
