Yes, the big problem you will encounter is that CoC is not really designed or intended to be a tank on tank game. It's built to be infantry platoon vs infantry platoon, and tanks make only the occasional appearance, with both sides having tanks even rarer. That being said, if you really want to play...

Oh I agree that that the local commander would decide what to do on the day. I was talking general trends, which is what the theoretical manuals would recommend as general guidance. I wonder if the confusion over their use is because it changed a number of times over the course of the war. I'm speculating that they were used as primarily transports in Poland and France because they were unknown technology and had limited numbers. Then in mid-war, their abilities were more known...

The Boys I could see justifying a 1 rather than a 2. There were some poor design choices made in it in comparison to its peers.

Yup, I turn the muzzle towards the enemy for unlimbered and away for limbered. Limbers are essentially eye-candy, which you can indulge or not according to your fancy.
