Re: Turrets and fire arc...

When Dave says tank destroyers, he really means turretless AFVs like the Hetzer, Stug and other fixed gun platforms like Su-76, panzerjaeger etc. The M10 is definitely a tank destroyer but it has a turret and I would treat it as a tank in the rules. Jim, thanks for the idea of using those overwatch ...

Re: Designated marksmen

I'd say that's a reasonable way of handling the designated marksman. Maybe not give him the full sniper ability (maybe 4+ to hit and ignore range, reduce cover by 1 instead always in open) and maybe add an extra check for casualties like leader hits to see if the marksman is a victim. Just house rul...

Re: Turrets and fire arc...

Jim, I have also glued my turrets to my tanks and I am going to use option 1. I suspect that the issue is mostly moot anyway because people are going to want their tanks facing the most likely threat to minimize flank shots and that's likely to be also where the turret is facing. If needed, option 2...

Re: Troop quality and morale

Not Dave, but I suspect that Dave did not want the different troop types to be an overly influential element to the game, especially in light of his emphasis on command and control. So the veterans get a benefit only in some circumstances as a way of limiting how powerful they are. It also reduces t...

Re: Using 10/12mm Figures

If you are playing on a 4 foot by 6 foot table, just use the measurements as is. That's what I plan to do with my 6mm figures. If your table is significantly smaller, maybe you might want to go with a conversion or just use cm instead of inches. Otherwise, it's work remembering the conversion or mar...

Re: Tank Battles

Could just house rule that a company CO's tank can fight at the cost of an order.

Re: US airborne campaign

There's also nothing stopping you from going unhistorical and subbing in the Airborne for another allied force in any of the other campaigns. You'll have to do a little work with the CoCulator to balance things out a bit, though. You could also invest in the At the Sharp End supplement, which is a g...

Re: More fencing

Plus, in the days before the weed whacker, you'd have an edging of long grass and weeds growing underneath and along side of the fences, which would aid in concealment.

Maybe I can pimp my fences with some tufts and wild flowers at a later date.

Re: More fencing

In game terms, I think I will treat these like wheat fields in that they provide "cover" to a unit that is neither moving nor firing. Moving and firing units get no cover because I think you can see through the fence if you really look and both of those activities tend to attract the eye.
