Re: To the Viktor Line - Campaign

"So saying, the evidence is that they started pre-dawn, so having limited visibility for S1 is a great idea."

Alternatively, for the first turn, give all targets one extra level of cover while it is dark (none = light, light = heavy, heavy = bunker).

Re: To the Viktor Line - Campaign

Instead of 6 command dice, you could reduce the FJ down to 5 dice. It would be hard for even an elite formation to maintain top-level efficiency in continuous combat. Their individual skill in combat would maintain but they might start being more reluctant in combat and slower to react than they use...

Re: Leader breaking with unit

I've played in Seret's way, and in the case of one unit breaking and the SL is also "attached" to another unit, I let it be the player's choice as to whether the SL routs with that unit or stays with the other unit. I look at as the SL making a clear decision on whether to support a unit that is act...

Re: CoC AAR - Dropping into Normandy

Were you using 6 dice elites and 4 dice greens or just giving them both 5 dice and adjusting the troops only?

Manipulating the command dice really has a big impact on the game and I recommend being very cautious with it. The game is nicely balanced at 5 dice.

Re: Playing using 28mm

You could reduced the cramped aspect by forcing 2 of the brigades into off-table reserves.

Re: Ongoing Rule Clarification Thread

Using a 1 to deploy a scout team or using a CI to create a scout team and give it an order has no impact on the rest of the section. In the case of the 1 to deploy, the rest of the section remains off board, ready to deploy on a 2 or with the JL on a 3. In the case of a 3 or 4 to activate a leader, ...

Re: Close Combat

I think the key is LOS. In the situations where close combat is optional, the requirement is that there is no direct path between the two units. But implied in that is that there really isn't a LOS between the units either. Big walls block LOS wonderfully well as do closed doors. Even open doors do ...

Re: Basic Firing Questions

Here's my best go: 1) You can only shoot at what you see. So I would only count units that are within 4" of the visible figures in the target team for sharing hits. 2a) Yes, based on the assumption that the leader is taking a peek from time to time. It stops the gamey tactic of stashing the leader o...

Re: Order of battle to Sharp Practice

You may also want to look at rules for the War of 1812 (not really in the TFL oeuvre) as well because they would looking at forces of about the same size in roughly the same time period. You may have to bolt on some cavalry rules though because cavalry played a very minor role in that war (often not...
