Re: How does it compare to General De Brigade?

Thanks. I play GdB with 6mm (8 figures to a base) and go with 4 bases for small (24 figs at 15mm at the standard ratio in the rules, but mine are 32 figs, so I am roughly using a scale of 1:10), 5 bases for anything between 28-35 figures at 15mm, and 6 bases for 36 figures and above at 15mm, as this...

Re: How does it compare to General De Brigade?

Do you need roughly the same amount of bases to play GdA as GdB?

As to Blucher, it is definitely on my list!

Re: 29 Let's Go Counter-Attack Question

However, the US doesn't have the men's opinion, Well colour me orange and call me Captain Carrot! I've always missed the 'only Colonel Goode's opinion matters thing.... despite multiple running. However if you look at page 14&15 of ATSE, avoiding battle by giving up the ground without a fight means...

Re: How does it compare to General De Brigade?

Thanks John. That is a shame, as I think I now have to add it to my Christmas list!! :o Blucher was going to be my go to rules for fighting big battles, though had toyed with looking at Snappy Nappy instead. The other alternative was to try a Nap conversion of Altar of Freedom, which I think is a fu...

Re: 29 Let's Go Counter-Attack Question

What if you don't count a battle as a campaign turn if neither sided has suffered a force morale loss? In the counter attack scenario, if the Germans just deploy onto the board in phase 1 and then declare they are withdrawing on phase 3 and nothing has happened in between, the Americans gain the vi...

Re: 29 Let's Go Counter-Attack Question

Personally I'm not too concerned about this counterattack and leave thing.... I'm just struggling to see the benefit. All the Germans are doing is throwing the US a win for very little advantage. If the German wins a game and counterattacks they should have enough to make a decent game of it. If th...

How does it compare to General De Brigade?

I know that General d'Armee (GdA) is designed by monsieur Brown who designed General De Brigade (GdB), and uses some of the systems in Pickett's Charge (PC), also designed by the gentleman in question. How different is it from GdB? From the videos it seems to be roughly at the same scale i.e. a side...

Re: 29 Let's Go Counter-Attack Question

Even at the beginning the Germans know they have to delay the enemy as long as possible. As the German you know to evacuate the whole force you need to battle for 7 turns, so the counter-attack strategy is still going to be key. As to the counter-attack and making the US react to it - once you have ...

Re: 29 Let's Go Counter-Attack Question

Thanks TT. I had seen that but had discounted it as it hands back the initiative to the other side for the current turn, which I took to mean that the other side could attack that turn i.e. it did not add a turn onto the turn clock, which is what the counter-attack does. Have I got that wrong? This ...

Re: 29 Let's Go Counter-Attack Question

Hi Iorweth, I can't see any rule which would prevent such a strategy explicitly, but I do think it is against the spirit of the campaign to declare a localised counterattack and then never fight one out and deny your opponent any chance at all to inflict further losses that turn. To my mind that ap...
