Re: Activation rolls question

Just to get back to the activation question. Assuming I roll 2,2,5,5,6 for my command dice. I want to fire some smoke from a British 2" mortar, but I cannot use either of the 2s to activate the mortar because it needs a 1. So if I do want to fire the mortar my option would be to combine the 2 and 2 ...

Re: Removing shock

Ah OK, I wasn't clear on the difference between "attached" and "command range". I've been looking in the rules for a definition of attached but can't seem to find anything, so I'm assuming a leader is attached to a unit if he is within 4" as per the rule on unit integrity, beyond 4" he is no longer ...

Smoke and Inerrupting question

More newb questions! How do you treat smoke for movement purposes (when a unit wants to move through the smoke)? We played it as broken ground as we couldn't find a specific reference. Is it possible to use the CoC dice to interrupt an enemy unit that has just announced its intention to fire at one ...

Removing shock

Can anyone explain the difference between these two rules, they seem to be saying pretty much the same thing: Rally one point of Shock from any Team in his command range that is not within line of sight of the enemy Rally one point of Shock from any Team he is attached to if it is in line of sight o...

Activation rolls question

Newbie question - in the absence of rolling a 1 can I use a roll of 2 to activate a fire team, or can the team only be activated on a 1?

Re: Introductory scenarios?

I have a variety of possible nationalities but was thinking a British vs German scenario set in Normandy, or alternatively something from the Eastern Front (late war, as well). I have plenty of AFVs etc, but I don't really want to take them all along with me, I was sort of hoping there might be some...

Alternative to blinds?

While I like the look of the IABSM rules I can't say the same for the look of blinds. They seem very unsightly on a table and often appear precariously balanced on bits of scenery. Has anyone come up with a more elegant way of representing a blind? I was thinking of using the patrol markers from CoC...

Introductory scenarios?

I'm planning on trying out CoC for the first time with another newbie. It will be at a club event and we will have to bring all the figures and scenery. With that in mind I was wondering if there are any introductory scenarios where the order of battle is already determined for both sides, so that w...

Re: Opportunity fire

Great thanks for the quick response. I guessed at much but just wanted to be sure. And yes, get your point about a penalty for a shot at a target only momentarily in sight.
