Everyone would like an extra 6 inches

I'm having trouble fathoming the logic with line of sight and orchards. If either target OR firer is in light orchards visibility only extends 6" into or out of the orchards. I get this. However if target and firer are both in the orchards visibility is 18". I can just about get my head around the 6...

Fire, then move, then close combat?

Can I use a single activation to activate a rifle team to fire at half effect and then indicate a move destination that would put the team within 4" of an enemy unit with the deliberate intention of engaging in close combat, all within the same single activation? In other words is firing and close c...

Re: Firing over units, is it ever permitted?

What about indirect weapons, such as mortars, or something more howitzer based like say the German le IG.18 75mm gun. How would people treat these when it comes to firing over intervening friendly units? Given that light mortars don't even require line of sight, I'm guessing this is a given. But how...

Pinning, breaking and sharing the love

I have a section composed of a three man Bren team, junior leader and four man rifle team. Everyone is within 4" for unit integrity. The Bren team has 3 points of shock and the rifle team has 5 points. So the unit integrity means I can share the shock across the 8 men and no one is pinned. So far so...

Re: Future of CoC ?

Where I think Rich and TFL have made a great leap forward is with the Pint Sized Campaigns. One reason the points based games are so popular is that setting up a scenario is made incredibly easy - turn up with your point force, place some scenery and off you go. That appeals to a lot of people witho...

Placing JOPs

Is there any restriction on how far back from a locked patrol marker a JOP can be placed? Assuming I meet the requirement to be at least 6" further back, in suitable cover and in the zone that is directly opposite the enemy patrol markers, could I move a lot further back if I wished? Just played a g...

Basing advice

I'm new to SP2 and the black powder period in general and so SP2 is my first set of rules for the period and I've invested in my first figures. While I'm busy painting the figures my thoughts have drifted to how best to base them, specifically with SP2 in mind. I'm putting together something for the...

Re: Amphibious Assault Scenario

Very interesting and looks like it's working quite well. I had a few thoughts: Why not have the LVT's arrive directly on the beach within a specific distance of a JOP but not forward of it (ie laterally along the beach, and/or further back in the water and permit the Marines to wade within 12" of th...

Re: Barbed wire

changl09, I think you'll find the problem prior to 1917 was the British were using the wrong type of HE to destroy wire. Shrapnel was anti-personnel and high explosive was for destroying fortifications. It wasn't until the invention of the No.106 fuze in 1916 that British artillery had an effective ...

Herr Wunsche's punch question (Op Martlet)

The Punch from Wunsche wild card option in Operation Martlet list the forces for the counter attack. It says it will be undertaken by the following force (2 panthers and 2 x 250/1 with MG42 and some crew) plus 5 support points. Is this in addition to the core platoon, or is this the entire force, it...
