29, Let's Go! campaign (updated 22 03 20)

So off we go on another pint sized campaign. This time a first outing for my American platoon, although I'll actually be playing the Germans in the campaign (not quite sure how that happened, but I think it was my turn to be the defender). No problem as both the platoons are my minis, so I won't be ...

Re: Renedra American Church

Nice work. I confess I really struggled with this kit. For some reason, nothing seemed to line up straight, and the steeple ended up crooked. I just blame shoddy 18th Century workmanship and put it on the table anyway. Yours looks a thousand times better. Thanks. It’s not you, it’s the kit. As you ...

Renedra American Church

I put together the Renedra Church to add to my terrain pieces for my Sharp Practice games set during the AWI. Not a bad little kit and a nice change from working in MDF, however it needed a few tweaks to get it looking right. More on the blog. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1024x768q90/921/N8rNvj....

Re: LMG against vehicles

Pg42 section 9.3.3 of the rule book: Small arms fire against armoured vehicles is generally entirely ineffective. However, in some situations infantry may attempt to drive off enemy armour by using their light or medium machine guns against vision ports and similar. This will only ever be effective ...

AFV markers for Chain of Command

Playing the Gembloux Gap campaign made me realise that while I have some themed markers for my infantry I don't have the same for my AFVs. We started using a bit of polyester cushion filling to represent an AFV that has gone flat out and that got me thinking what else I could create to help us remem...

Re: Snr Leader in tank firing multiple MMG

I like Seret’s answer, the leader firing the HMG certainly becomes a vulnerable target to snipers and other fire (would the turret give him hard cover protection to direct fire? Less to indirect fire I would have thought). Also agree that it would be difficult for him to issue other commands while d...

Re: Mortar minimum ranges....not saying we should change the rules

Interesting, I’m sure there are other cases, but it would have been ‘in extremis’ and atypical. Problem is, make it a general rule and gamers will make it typical. Probably a case for a funky rule for a one-off scenario. It also seems the ranges they are talking about (15 yards!) would almost put th...

Re: Getting started with Chain of Command

I've written an article on the blog about Force structure and supports as a guide for new players, particularly those coming from a set of rules like Bolt Action where forces are constructed using points. I often find those players have the most trouble understanding force composition in CoC, so hop...

Re: Gembloux Gap Turn 1

One thing after this game I am thinking of doing is making the entrenchments better against HE. (I realise my iG dice were hot but even so the trench should be better than hiding behind a brick wall?) In other words not dropping a level - leaving it as hard cover. In real life the slit trench was s...
