Re: ELITES - A CAUTIONARY TALE

"Oh...one more time here...I did fail to add...the infamous crappy die roll." My dice were rolling pretty much on the average, sometimes a bit better sometimes a bit less. 3 hits becoming 1 shock 1 kill out of 19 shots is the expected result, nothing to do with bad dice requiring a superstition base...

Re: ELITES - A CAUTIONARY TALE

Yes they should perhaps benefit from their greater experience under fire, but making them more or less invulnerable is over stating that experience.

Re: ELITES - A CAUTIONARY TALE

As I mentioned above, it's not about what counter you may have, it's about being able to run a squad of 10 men along a road and fire 2 Belt Fed LMG's at them and only hit the squad 3 times, turning that into 1 dead and 1 shock, when in reality every man should be dead. That's a pretty big failure of...

Re: ELITES - A CAUTIONARY TALE

I was running 3 regular sections of Panzer Grenadiers, two belt fed MG's each putting out 19 shots a phase and they did SFA. After spending the Support List points on a 250 w' Recce Team and an extra Snr Leader the Rangers weren't significantly out numbered by any stretch of the imagination. It's no...

Re: ELITES - A CAUTIONARY TALE

That's some pretty good suggestions.
The jury is still out for me on the 6 dice issue, I'd rather see how the other changes go before that.
I don't think I'd give Vets shooting on the move bonuses though.

Re: ELITES - A CAUTIONARY TALE

The issue wasn't really the lack of command dice, granted he got quite a few double phases, but I got one or two as well and yes he captured one of my JoPs before I even had a unit on the table BUT by far and away the biggest issue was the fact he was essentially bullet proof. Each of my squads was ...

Re: Snipers, what they can do and what you can do to them

Magpie - hang on though. The thing is, you're not supposed to be able to "see" a sniper until you roll to spot him. Can you actually run towards him and just base touch him like that - without rolling to see him? Yep. It's only at shooting range he's had to spot. Think of it like the squad knowing ...

Re: Locked Down Patrol Markers.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, if you have four markers 12" apart (ie: at maximum spread), you can't move either of the two inner markers at all in your first move. Wherever you move it, the distance from at least one of the two adjacent markers will go beyond 12", won't it? Yes that would have to be...

Re: Wrath of the Gods

As for the Pz IIIs - simple. Check the Soviet brief - no mention of them at all, deliberately. The first the Soviet player should know is when they appear on the table. He can only do what you suggest if he has also read the German brief, which he shouldn't have! Cat's out of the bag a bit now thou...

Not if you move the second to end one first, you do still move across a bit but it's more like 3" , I didn't save the Autocad I did so I can't measure it for certain.
