Re: Why is Smoke Bullet Proof?

I thought the rules prevented all fire unless its HG smoke?. Smoke wasn't very commonly used at the tactical level in WW2 apart from the British and the US later in the war, it had many different methods of deployment. In British usage before late 43 far more HE bombs where issued than Smoke to the ...

Re: Why is Smoke Bullet Proof?

Yes any deployment of smoke on the tactical level is seen as an indication of enemy movement so you put fire into it. Stupid not to. The actual standard practice of the 2" Mortar is to drop it directly on or near to an enemy position to blind them not screen your own movements. Its very effective th...

Why is Smoke Bullet Proof?

Why can you not fire into smoke? It is actually a standard practice to fire into smoke. Especially at the tactical level, which is why it is not used for screening at the tactical level, except as a distraction device but more as a blinding device.

Re: bren or Scout carrier for the BEF

Bren Carriers were issued in Infantry Battalions. Scout in Divisional Recce which were Cavalry Regiments. You have built a Bren carrier. Universally people seem to have commonly called both Bren. The Scout was armed with a Boys and a Bren.

They still issue pads of paper for a similar purpose. Physical signs are not always immediate.

Re: Any one

I don't always use National Characteristics especially in solo games. I try to use the TOE and tactical doctrine to represent differences. I guess some people want differences highlighted but I think you can go to far. Im wary of awarding the Aggressive Trait to units without specialist Close Combat...

Re: Bunkers, Strong points, Trenches...

Once you get too reinforced concrete bunkers HE is pretty useless. Some on DDAY received multiple hits from Destroyers without the occupants being rendered inoperable they continued to fight. Even AVRE Petards really had to target embrasures and it was through targeting the embrasures by whatever me...

Re: Bloddy Bucket campaign

Side plates are only 6mm even with the tops folded down on a M16 that's only 12mm. Same for the Windshield. In fact the M3s side panels wont stop 7.92mm AP rounds. If anything the Hanomags better because its armour is sloping. But not enough in COC terms to be different.

Re: FO team caught in own barrage - what happens?

Yes he could adjust fire. But hed scream STOP with whatever Comm method he possessed and check his F>>>>>G Map reading. Then post combat keep a wary distance from his own troops. If hes mucked up his map reading adjusting the fire by 100 metres may not clear his or friendlies position. He doesn't kn...
