Re: Bloddy Bucket campaign

Side plates are only 6mm even with the tops folded down on a M16 that's only 12mm. Same for the Windshield. In fact the M3s side panels wont stop 7.92mm AP rounds. If anything the Hanomags better because its armour is sloping. But not enough in COC terms to be different.

Re: FO team caught in own barrage - what happens?

Yes he could adjust fire. But hed scream STOP with whatever Comm method he possessed and check his F>>>>>G Map reading. Then post combat keep a wary distance from his own troops. If hes mucked up his map reading adjusting the fire by 100 metres may not clear his or friendlies position. He doesn't kn...

Re: Walking a Smoke Barrage!

The whole notion of tweaking barrages given the time and ground scales in CoC is nonsensical. I’ve read all the theory, and the accounts and tweaking by 20yards in a GUARANTEED MANNER just wasn’t possible despite what Andy will doubtless try to tell us. Otherwise, FF incidents would never have happ...

Re: Walking a Smoke Barrage!

Never heard of walking a smoke barrage in real life. Have you got an example of one? More likely they will drift with the wind and not in the direction you want. Common practice to correct the smoke screen, especially if deployed in front of advancing Infantry. Wind direction etc was all calculated...

Re: CONCERNS WITH SINGLE-TEAM SQUADS

Some units did employ manual tactics and quite successfully. There are accounts. Others didn't, others were incapable due to a lack of training knowledge. For example Ive come across accounts/reports from British/German/US that say they are no longer able to conduct small scale tactics effectively d...

Re: Walking a Smoke Barrage!

Well by the rules Hand Grenade and LM smoke is only removed at the end of a Turn. MM Smoke should then also remain until the end of a turn.... A barrage ends at the end of a turn.

So yes your smoke area would get larger.

Re: CONCERNS WITH SINGLE-TEAM SQUADS

Would it not be simpler to make all squads single team squads? My reading is that is how they tended to operate in combat the team manourvers were fine in peace time drills but combat changed things very quickly. In fact I am currently reading a book written by an SAS section leader. In theory had ...

Re: CONCERNS WITH SINGLE-TEAM SQUADS

Len. I too have considered the single team superiority. Youre fix would seem to be a good one. Most squads that did fight as a single team still had allocations within the squad so these non-deployable elements can be identified. I think the split team squads are even more penalised in the F Series ...

Re: White gloves worn by Japanese infantrymen.

White knit cotton work gloves called 軍手 (gunte) short for 軍用手袋 meaning "military gloves" were used quite extensively by IJA soldiers as work gloves, and are even now being made, sold and used commonly in Japan as durable and cheap work gloves. They seem to have been intended for fatigues, the only p...

Re: Resources for campaign South Pacific Theatre

The Army units had M1s in the Infantry elements. The TOE was based around the M1.
