Re: Maori Wars

Well I hate to disappoint you Simon but there's another book just released that you'll have to add to your growing list. It's titled "Soldiers, Scouts and Spies" by Cliff Simons see link below https://www.masseypress.ac.nz/books/soldiers-scouts-and-spies/ I've just borrowed a copy from the local lib...

Re: Maori Wars

Hi Simon I've read the book on Maori artillery, albeit some time ago. From memory I think there was one notable use of artillery during the 1840's. All the other instances were during the inter tribal Musket wars if I'm remembering this correctly. The book itself is based on the author's thesis. A g...

Re: Maori Wars

Hi Simon I think your suggestions are excellent. Nice and simple without overcomplicating things. I particularly like the idea of rolling the bonuses into one 'tupara' modifier. As for having traditional armed groups there is evidence to support that option. In the attack at Kororareka, whilst Kawit...

Re: Maori Wars

Hi Ironduke It certainly has been a while. I'd be keen to see the discussion resurrected again. For me real life has got in the way over the last few months. Buying a new home and in the process of building a new one so all my wargaming stuff has been in storage for some time. I know that both Simon...

Re: Army lists for the Haitian rebellion

You could try the chap over at the Dust Tears and Dice blog. I'm pretty sure he has gamed some of the Haitian Revolution using Sharp Practice.

Re: Pickett's Charge in 6mm

Thanks Dave.

That's good to know. Do you have any recommendations for base sizes to give a reasonably close approximation of ACW frontages if using 6mm.

Pickett's Charge in 6mm

Hi all

Very interested in purchasing these rules but was wondering if they can be played in 6mm.
If so, are there any recommended base sizes and changes to measurements (e.g. changing inches to centimeters)

regards
Roger

Re: Indian Mutiny reading recommendations

Yeah those Iron Duke miniatures are very tempting and given Mr Snooks involvement you know they'll be historically accurate :D

Re: Indian Mutiny reading recommendations

I'm definitely going to have to grab a copy myself. From the bits I managed to glean from Google Books it sounds like he gave the British Govt a bit of a headache over his court case. Looks like a nice little snapshot into the Victorian era. :D

Re: Indian Mutiny reading recommendations

Thanks for the additional info Simon. It's all really very interesting. He certainly seems to have got himself out a bit and appears to have been involved in all sorts of actions. The fibis site also has him apparently engaging Rhohilli and Arab insurgents in the late 1840s when he returned to India...
