Re: Feint Cavalry Charges

Hi Ricky and Dave Thanks for your suggestions, I will try them out and see how I get on. Interestingly British Cavalry were very good at this sort of thing, they performed well on the retreat to Corunna, the actions here at Fuentes and on the retreat from Quatre Bras. Commentators refer to the Briti...

Feint Cavalry Charges

Hi All I am looking at refighting the third day of Funetes de Onoro, when the 7th and Light Divisions carried out a withdrawal in contact in the face of Massena's attack. Three French infantry divisions and most of their cavalry attacked and forced back the British right flank. During this action co...

Re: GDA with real organisation?

You could always add a Divisional commander with ADC's of his own. Not in the rules but historically correct, men such as Picton and Craufurd.

Re: Deployment Facing/Formation

You generally know where the enemy is, if not their exact location. Any unit deploying on the table half way point would know the direction the enemy was likely to be and they would face them. Depending on the scenario troops deploying on the halfway line will probably have been caught unprepared as...

Re: Deployment Facing/Formation

I would have thought units should be deployed facing the nearest enemy, in a formation of the players choice.

Re: Skirmisher lines Question

Hi Archduke Thanks for the reply. However I am still unclear. If you have 2 skirmish screens, one per side to be effective they must be 5cm in front of their CO unit. Also skirmishers cannot move voluntarily closer than 5 cm to the enemy. So adding all that up it appears that skirmish screens have t...

Re: Skirmisher lines Question

Hi John Thanks for your response. 15cm is 5 in front of the CO unit, 5 from the enemy skirmish screen who are 5 in front of their CO unit, everybody screened. From your answer 10cm would appear to be the distance at which both screens are ineffective. However I thought the 5cm rule was for all troop...

Skirmisher lines Question

Hi

A skirmisher screened close order unit approaches an enemy skirmisher screened close order unit.

At 15cm technically both screens are still effective, but once the range drops below 15cm am I correct that both screens cease to be effective?

Re: Light Infantry in Skirmish mode

Hi Polish Lancer, thank you for your reply, having reread page 35 I can see that "any one unit routed" will cause the brigade to Falter.

Light Infantry in Skirmish mode

Does a Light Infantry unit in skirmish order that routs, count as a close order unit and cause the Brigade to falter when it goes?
