Re: Cavalry Double Line vs Column of Squadrons

John: I’m generally using a 1:20 scale for my figures; but, the figures are based for another system I play called Le Petit Armee. In this system, cavalry are mounted two per stand; so, for GdA I’m putting two of those stands per base. But you are right - my intention is for one GdA bae to equal a s...

Re: Cavalry Double Line vs Column of Squadrons

John: Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, with only 4 bases in the unit, the only way I can go 3+ squadrons deep would be to deploy in column of companies. So, how can I (legally) form a column of squadrons with the number of bases I have? Also, I’m not seeing the negative modifier for cavalr...

Cavalry Double Line vs Column of Squadrons

I am trying to find in the rules whether there is any real difference between having a unit of cavalry in double line formation and having it in column of squadrons. I’m basing my cavalry 4 to a base, with a standard unit having 4 bases. So, both formations have the same frontage. The movement rates...

Re: Old Napoleonic Scenario Books

I was wondering whether the GdB elite cav would be classified as battle or heavy in GdA. I guess the elite lights would tend to be classed as battle while the cuirassiers and other elite heavies might merit an elite status.

This has been extremely helpful, Mark - thanks again!!

Jim

Re: Old Napoleonic Scenario Books

Mark:

How does the cavalry ratings transfer (campaign/battle/heavy)?

French artillery brigade in Quatre Bras

I was looking at the 6 pounder battery Line and saw the “2x”; but, it is not in the column that normally indicates more than one of a type of unit. Is this represented on the table as a single battery (possibly made up of two under strength batteries combined); or, is it a typo and should be two sep...

Re: Gilly Setup Sequence

We played it marshes, Prussians, ford, French.

Since the French player places the ford, we assumed that the French scouts found a spot To cross the stream hitherto unknown (or overlooked) by the Prussians when they deployed for battle.

Re: Large Unit

I’m using 3/4/5 bases for unit sizes for my 10mm army. Having three bases for a small unit is a little wonky for making a column of divisions(you are supposed to have 2 bases wide and 2 deep); but, I just offset the odd base between the two in front. I wouldn’t mind going to 4/6/8 bases; but, that m...
