Re: Tank orders by Flag

Yes, that was noted. Soviet tanks, until the late parts of the war, hadn't enough radios and as they had 2-man turrets the commander wasn't able to concentrate on commanding and finding targets. The Germans noted (if I remember correctly) that they could usually engage targets about 3 times faster t...

Re: Tank orders by Flag

Didn't the Soviet early war armour do quite well against the Japanese? Just sayin'. Peter Yes, in open steppes of Manchuria the BT-series cavalry tanks and others were in terrain that was optimally suited for large scale tank operations. But we're now talking about whole companies or regiments maki...

Re: Tank orders by Flag

“Do what I do!” 3 CI All members of the platoon within command radius and LOS of the SL may activate but must do exactly what the SL’s tank does. They must move in the same direction and fire at the same target where possible. Tanks roll for movement individually. Fire can be resolved as desired. S...

Re: Winter Terrain Effects

Glad if I could be of assistance, John. There was probably some situations where tanks were unable to drive off road because of the amount of snow but I would guess most of the time that was because the crews thought that the terrain which was covered in snow could be too risky to drive through. Als...

Re: Winter Terrain Effects

Hi, Here are some graphs I scanned from a book and translated to English to give some quick idea about the temperatures and amounts of snow during Winter War. As these are averages they are of course not exact for certain areas and days. For example the temperatures in the graph has average of aroun...

Re: FJ42 rifle,

The problem with it being rated like an assault rifle is that it used the full size 7.92mm round, unlike the MP43/STG44 which used the less powerful 8mm Kurtz round. Due to it's using the full sized round and the fact of it's light weight meant that on full auto it was virtually uncontrollable and ...

Re: Tank Hunters Teams

Yes, one weapon at a time is how I've been playing it also and definitely no combining of the AP values. Also, John, the BT-series have all Armour Value of 3 not 5 so a Molotov to the rear should make a short work of them - remember it doubles the Shock. Basically the idea was that the Team would sn...

Re: Vehicle Movement

I'll give a shot. When a vehicle that is commanded by a Junior or Senior Leader is activated with a Command Dice result of 3 (for Junior Leader) or 4 (for a Senior Leader) its commander can order the Driver to move the vehicle ( no surprise there :) ) by using 1 Command Initiative. The vehicle can t...

Re: Ambush and Movement

Also, one thing I am playing with with Cold War CoC is an increase in your chances of deploying if you are dug in and subject to a preliminary bombardment. Hi Richard, I really like that idea! The pre-game barrage can be a very lethal support choice although inflicts no straight casualties - playin...

Re: Sections without Teams and how to handle them

@Topi: Ok, itse Suutarilassa (Töyrynummella) ja duunissa bulevardilla (kun sitä on). That sounds like fun! We should probably continue our discussion elsewhere - I'll PM you later today :) @Rich H: In a way that's ok but I think that it would make Teamless Sections a bit too unpredictable and weak +...
