Re: What a Tanker game

We use different coloured D20s with any 6s carried over adding 3 to the score. You get the odd re-roll but we don't bother if the tanks with the same score are on the same side. If it's opposing forces, then we roll for who gets to go first of those with equal net scores. If we had enough uniquely n...

Re: Hull mounted guns

I think this is covered on page 37, under Arcs of Aim. 60 degrees is quite generous for tanks with a hull mounted gun, so it has some built in allowance for the vehicle rotating on the spot to track/engage the chosen target. As the turret is moved to align with the target, so should the vehicle with...

Re: Early War Handbook Queries

The Consolidated Arsenal has it the same as Pz IV C - the only difference being the hull MG which isn't enough to tip it over into the next support level. Production was slow - 13 month initially, 20 maximum, so the preceding versions would have been more common which is probably why it doesn't get ...

Re: Big WaT

Given that every move, each vehicle gets to roll for initiative (we use a D20, adding 3 for any wild dice retained from last move) there is no guarantee that the troop leader will be the first to go of his command. Any extra dice he rolls will need to be limited in their distribution to vehicles yet...

Re: Big WaT

I'd not thought about any ability variables but clearly having no radio like many early war tanks (or the Russians below company commander) limits what can be done to the likes of frantic hand waving/gesturing towards a subordinate's vehicle (assuming it's in sight and not closed down) or dismountin...

Re: Battalion level WW2 Now called "O" Group or the story of "Oooooh"

Part 1 video very informative. Looks to me that will work well in 6mm, though a standard 6' x 4' board might be a bit big for the sort of action being played out on camera if the movement/ranges are halved as one would expect for this scale relative to 15mm. I have a lot of 6mm and fielding a couple...

Re: Big WaT

I had sketched out a few thoughts and one was to disallow any use of the bonus dice if the troop commander's vehicle was engaging the enemy but then again if it had been previously spotted, then the gunner and loader would be the ones 'distracted', leaving the commander to either look for the next t...

We tend to play with troop size commands on a large table - typically 8' x 6' and having got our first club game in since lock down, the question was asked about any house rules others may use to give some form of co-coordinating role to the troop commanders (like JLs get in CoC for instance). As us...

Market Garden

From all the effort (and publicity) put in to get over the channel and visit the area last autumn, not to mention the interest in the building the Para Recce units, I'd rather hoped by now we have a Blitzkrieg type supplement and/or a set of pint sized campaigns covering this. Did Infamy derail this...

Re: Starting in CoC, looking for help on 15mm vs 20mm

I'd recommend looking at SHQ for 20mm. My Platoon 20 are all old casting dating back over 20 years and they aren't that impressive. I've just added some SHQ late war Germans to bulk out my (UK produced) FAA figures and they don't look out of place. Same with the American Paras. Battlefield Miniature...
