Thanks guys. I'm looking at the Victrix cavalry 12 to a set and hoping they will be in sixes.. as three groups from two sets seems like way too much cavalry.
Similarly I'm hoping for 8s for the Romans becuase the EIR cavalry come in packs of 16.

Re: ANCIENT SHARP PRACTICE - INFAMY! INFAMY!

Sorry guys, probably asked and answered before, but what group sizes should I be planning for in my purchases.. ? AFAIK 'Barbarian' infantry = 10 Roman Legions, Auxilia and Psiloi(lights) = 8 Chariots = 4? Cavalry ??? 'Barbarian' light troops? 6 or 8? Romans 8s all the time. Barbarians 10s in group...

Re: ANCIENT SHARP PRACTICE - INFAMY! INFAMY!

Does this base look too big? It's a 35mm by 60mm, but 2p's look too small for lone cavalry These are from the Victrix Roman General sprue, so will be "Big Men" on the battlefield, so they want to be look important and leader-y. This one is the Primus Pilus, or a generic Senior Centurion, there's al...

Re: Disciplinary et Virtus plastic armies?

I've assembled mine now, the optio doesn't have a dedicated body in the kit so you use one from the infantry frame. I assembled: 1x Centurion (specific body and parts for him) 1x Optio (infantry body and command frame parts) 1x signifier (specific body and parts) 1x music fella (specific body and pa...

Honestly whatever makes your life easier! The sarky responses have got a chuckle out of me but they're not a solution unfortunately

Re: Scouts and Orders

Take this with a pinch of salt as I don't own the rulebook yet but I get the impression they behave like a separate team when detached and presumably they're supposed to operate ahead of the big man to reveal blinds.

I would imagine that they need to be in command range to do anything in that case.

Re: Firing from a Cover = +1

In the overall context of Skirmish Troops, it makes sense. Light Infantry gain +1 at all ranges. This represents them taking careful shots whatever the proximity of the enemy. Skirmishers gain +1 when firing over close range. This represents their careful aiming when the enemy is not too close. At ...

Re: Infamy: centurions and standards

I'm not sure it matters. You can have your vexillarius as standard bearer, I'll use a signifer. It's more an aesthetic choice in game terms, I expect. Unless there'll be a mechanically separate role this is what I'll do in all likelihood. After all by the time I've got through some plastic kits I'l...

Postscript. Good chat lads. I'm loving the research on this one.
Fascinating so far. There's certainly contrast from the Primary school "men in red who built swimming baths and conquered the baddies" outlook.
