Re: Sensible (armour) platoons in Big CoC?

Thanks everyone, I'll go for an Armoured Cars for each side to begin with and then scale up from there. All I need to decide is which ones I like the look of best - Humber (which wikipedia suggests was the most common), Daimler or the AEC (bit of a beast!). I'm not so keen on the Axis armoured cars,...

Sensible (armour) platoons in Big CoC?

Encouraged by the success of my group's first CoC game, I'm going to start planning for an eventual Big CoC game. While it's a few games away (we need to walk before we can run), our gaming group has 4-5 players and getting more than 2 involved in any one game is the destination 8-) I've given the B...

Re: DIY hedges and gates.

Thanks for the tutorial. The gates are especially effective and I find it's these extra touches (i.e. not just a gap in the wall) that bring a gaming table to life. I am inspired to make some too.

Re: Signal box for the Westwind campaign

That is a really lovely paint job. Did you hand-paint the motifs on the signs? Also - can I ask what technique you used to get the subtle variety of shades on the roof tiles? I think I can see some black weathering powder but I'm not sure.

Re: Advice for first CoC game?

No vehicles were involved in this flagrant rule abuse :o - thanks for the rules advice though. I think if it hadn't been the last action of the game we might had checked the rules more thoroughly, but the ref (me!) was running out of puff by this stage. My own personal Referee Shock had exceeded my ...

Re: Normandy Roads?

Thanks gilliessim, much appreciated. It was it's first outing and got named the Carrot Field. I can't claim the carrot tufts were my work, they were one of the pre-made vegetable\shrub tufts you can buy as a sheet. The rest was mdf, polyfilla, sand and brown paint. I think the coarse sand glued onto...

Re: Normandy Roads?

Here's a shot from the finished roads. Despite no evidence in the photos I've seen, I have started with some white lines. This is purely an artistic choice to make them stand out on the battle field. I'm in two minds as to whether I prefer them or not, but I'm pleased with the roads in general. I us...

Re: Advice for first CoC game?

Yesterday we played our first CoC game and incorporated some of the advice given above. We had a German Infantry Platoon vs a British Infantry platoon, which seemed to be a fairly balanced match up and worked well. To give the players some variety bothe sides also had a Tripod MMG from the Support L...

Re: Advice for first CoC game?

As I don't have any markers, I'm defintely going to use some suitable looking infantry miniatures for Patrol Phase. Ok, so you can't stack them on one spot, but that can be accommodated.

Re: Advice for first CoC game?

Thanks for the advice everyone. Summarised thus far.. 1: Practice the Patrol Phase through a couple of times, before the real event. 2: The 'Probe' scenario, played lengthways, is a good choice. 3: Get plenty of scenery on the board. 4: Keep support options modest\absent. 5: Use some standard Platoo...
