Re: Sdkfz 222

So, did anyone notice the SdKfz 221 has a two-man crew, a driver and a commander-gunner. That makes it a 1-Man-Turret, with all the wonderful penalties that go with it.

Re: Sdkfz 222

Kfz 13 has an armour of 1 - not very survivable. However, they do still stop rifle fire and cost you one point less.

Re: Ft17

Actually, at only 2 points they are quite a bargain. They used to cost 3 points and still do in the Consolidated list. Indeed, I think it’s unfair that they’re classed as low profile, when they’re fully as tall as a Pz 38(t). As further balancing I would add another house rule, namely that FT-17 cre...

Re: Ft17

FT-17 actually ain’t a bad tank for 1939/40 - under the Blitzkrieg handbook that is. For two points you get a very handy 37mm gun or MG, which can make quite a mess of enemy infantry. And, if you’re only up against Pz Is and Pz IIs or other early panzers with only 3 armour points, it’s actually quit...

Re: Minefield deployment

Wartime photos suggest that mined roads were a thing — what we would now call IEDs. Typically they’d be found on dirt roads rather than cobble or asphalt. You see quite a few photos of armoured cars that have hit mines, presumably speeding along not paying attention to the road surface. My guess is ...

Re: Anti-tank rifle queries

Hi Chris, Yes, we had a discussion about the various AT rifles a couple of months back, in a thread titled “World War 2 Anti-Tank rifles”. I seem to recall these larger calibre ones were huge beasts. The Finnish Lahti, iirc, was also very good. However, they were so large and cumbersome that someone...

Re: A few CoC queries - mostly Early War

Hi Levi, Yes, I would definitely go for “move on a 1”, especially in Big CoC. The problem in standard CoC is that you have so many uses for 1’s — not least firing LMGs — that you can rarely spare them on your armour, which ends up sitting idly by, often in a place where it can’t fire even if you had...

Anti-tank rifle queries

Been looking through the rules for more than an hour and can’t seem to find a close range for Anti-tank rifles. Had a few other thoughts/queries regarding this weapon, so here goes: 1) AT rifles were notoriously useful only at fairly close ranges. I assume they could fire the full length of the tabl...

Anomalies when apportioning casualties to LMGs and Leaders

I've become a bit confused about how you should allot casualties within a unit acting as a single section, especially when multiple Leaders are involved. As an example, let's say you have a German infantry section of the 1939 campaign. It has a JL, 8 riflemen and an LMG team of 3 men + 1 rifleman, s...

Re: A few CoC queries - mostly Early War

Thought the pinned German section was a gonner but tried to save it by deploying a SL and then the final German section behind it. The freak dice did the rest. The Poles also had a stranded BAR team unpinned in the same game. It was in a ruined building getting hammered and had been separated from i...
