Some more post-game questions

Last night we finished our game from last week, with the result being a bloodbath for both sides and neither set of players feeling like they could do anything further. The Germans had lost 14 men and the British 11 but the force morale had been barely impacted. We called it as it had ended being a ...

Re: 20mm German SS Oakleaf - Opinions sought

I suspect that you're right. The later batches I made larger dark patches to begin with which look better, but they aren't all that close together you're right. I still have a few to do which I will try some different ideas. Thanks for the reply.

Much happier now. I ran a wash of Devlan Mud over the Violet Brown and it went much more to my taste. Still could have done better but considering I've barely painted a 20mm figure in several years I'm happy enough.

They're nice figures in the picture but look more like Autumn to me. Far too orange a look for the summer oakleaf.

20mm German SS Oakleaf - Opinions sought

Looking for some opinions on whether these look OK. 20mm Xan miniatures bought through Empress. I'm trying to do Summer Oakleaf as the majority of the time these will be used they'll be in Normandy I think (need to work through both the Martlet and Scottish Corridor PSC), but I'm just not convinced....

Re: How do you attack in this game?

Thanks Seret. Interesting that you'd attack through the wheat field - I was concerned about going that way and getting carved up. However it would likely have been no worse than going through the hedges and orchards given the cover is the same (although in reality I'd rather have the chance of a tre...

Re: How do you attack in this game?

I deployed into the orchard. His troops in the entrenchment and the building shot me. (We had made the ruling that you could see 12" into or in orchards. They don't generally have a fringe of underbush at the edges in my experience like a wood does.) Granted I can see mistakes with our interpretatio...

Re: How do you attack in this game?

On the subject of support points, as said, these are games to try to get a feel for all types, and we're limited with support options atm due to not having requisite figures. Also in spirit of "play the period not the rules", maybe the Platoon commander wasn't given the option of what he had? I very...

Re: How do you attack in this game?

Many thanks for the replies chaps. I wrote my post last night on my phone, I'm now on my PC so can post some pictures to illustrate the situation. But first to reply to pertinent points. So you now use your other squad, and the infantry gun and SFMG that you bought with all your extra support points...
