Re: Battalion HQ forum

Very much looking forward to these rules. I'd love to see a set of historical scenarios to go with the rules. What would also be really useful would be an article in the next Special on converting IABSM scenarios to use with O Group (so upscaling to Battalion size games). :D

Re: podcast 20 discussion on historical accuracy of gaming

My journey was similar to yours. After 40 years gaming I've gone through the search for the holy grail and historical accuracy. Now I'm an old git I swing back towards fun with an acceptable level of acuracy. :D With so many rule sets and scales covering all periods of historical gaming I'm just ple...

Cheers

John- yes, I saw that, thanks but wasn't sure if they were being done in collaboration or if this effort was more "official". :)

Re: SP Ancients?

John - please do some late medieval - 100 Years War, War of the Roses etc - definitely a gap in the market for that period. Will watch for developments eagerly! :D

Re: War of the roses, SP v2

This is really excellent and I shall be giving it a go.

I think you need to flesh it out a bit with some additional units - Welsh Spear & Longbow, Irish Kerns and Gallowglass etc.

Army lists with unit restrictions would also help folk new to the period.

Great work!

Playing Pint Size games with multiple Platoons

Hi Chaps,

Will the scenarios from the Pint Sized campaigns work with multiple platoons on each side (as a one off game)?

Will the support become diluted or should it also be increased?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Re: Random thought/s on close combat

Essentially you should never assault unless you have pinned the enemy with fire unless absolutely desperate.

Definitely should have fired at the JL - as pointed out you could have done this without moving into close combat.

Re: Up to Date Platoon Force Ratings

I think the elite status should be considered on a case by case basis. Take Normandy - during June I would give several units e.g. 12th SS elite status. 12th SS for example had fanatical morale, good quality weapons/vehicles etc and an veteran NCO & officer cadre with extensive experiance on the Rus...
