Re: Perennial basing/unit size question

It niggles with me when wargamers ignore scale. I really do get it that GdeA, and the concepts that Dave and John extol in this thread and others are putting forward works better when you remove the need for precise scaling. GdeA has a huge amount of hidden complexity to it and it genuinely excels i...

Re: Faltering in a charge

Good discussion guys To perhaps help confirm John's ruling suggestion. This scenario COULD also occur if the firing unit was only able to target their fire on one of the supports in the charge. In this case the brigade still falters but only the support unit has been affected.... thus losing support...

Re: Faltering in a charge

Hi John Thanks for the speedy reply, yes at the time I took this route (too many loose ends if you start asking do I retreat, retire, throw again?). If the DT had failed this would have sent the unit as unformed and tipped the balance in the ensuing melee, but as it was the charge was successful whi...

Faltering in a charge

Hi Everyone, Playing in lockdown is a lonely business...Here is what came up with me vs me yesterday (PS I lost again) My charging column plus supports moves to the 5cm point and gets fired upon. D6 from defensive fire gives a DT which the chargers pass and also a DESTINY in which the general suffer...

Obscure Q on Brigades

Hi Everyone Sorry but a rather obscure definition that I could not find the answer to in the rule book. Brigades get a 50% or more definition as Elite, Vet/Line or Recruit and this can be important when rolling on the Falter table Is this set for the whole game? If a mixed brigade of Vets (50%) and ...

95th skirmishing

Hi Guys The 95th (let us assume they are classed as elite - would not want to provoke anyone....) arrive on the battlefield at the run as a small battalion in close order of companies. How many bases do they provide if then subsequently want to a) deploy as light skirmish order : 3 + 1 for Elite bat...

Re: General d'Armee Video

Great stuff guys well done. Some really useful tips and explanations. Will look forward to the promised battle, particularly if DB is going to reprise his Fred Scuttle impression.
Cheers

Re: A bit of BUA on the side

John OK nearest takes precendent over directly opposing then.....so if it was this https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1903/30527104317_134e3a48bc_b.jpg then the line support for the charge would be not allowed as before, but the BUA would ignore the opposing target and fire at the nearest (charging unit...

Re: A bit of BUA on the side

Thanks John, yes the pic isn't quite up to demonstrating this I agree, would have been more illustrative if the column were a line.
So do you think the sentence should be read as ...'providing they have no other targets...' rather than nearer targets?
