Corunna - 'General d'Armee' AAR
Battle of Corunna 16th January 1809 This was the last all-day Saturday game of 2019 at the Border Reivers. It wasn’t meant to be special – nothing seasonal or anything like that, but it turned out to be somewhat distinctive after all. Members of my old club (The Contemptible Little Wargames Club) ha...

Re: CSA Gun-Battery Effectiveness
Hi Tony Yes, of course I had totally forgotten about the increased odds of getting 7s, on a double dice roll, with other numbers declining in statistical proportion - duuhh! Thank you for taking the time to put it all down so eloquently. The locations of the 4-gun slots in the firing tables do indee...

CSA Gun-Battery Effectiveness
We had another very enjoyable 'Pickett's Charge' game at our club yesterday. During the proceedings, a question came up which none of us could satisfactorily answer: - The Artillery Fire Casualty Table has 4 gun (ostensibly CSA) batteries of guns picked out in red as they have a lower performance co...

Re: One Hundred Days Scenario - Attack on Mont St Jean.
We will probably play the scenario again sometime soon (but using the off table reserves correctly this time!). Maybe even try the larger option 8-) Since we play in 25/28mm, we assume a ground scale of 1.5mm to the metre which makes Picton's 1,400 meter deployment frontage about 7ft on our table. T...

One Hundred Days Scenario - Attack on Mont St Jean.
We played the 'Attack on Mont St Jean' scenario from the 1815 One Hundred Days supplement last Saturday. We managed to get 10 turns but by then it was obvious that the French forces were so beaten-up that never going to achieve any of their objectives. So it was an Allied victory. Looking at an earl...

Re: AWI version
Hi Valad48, We could do that but in practice not found it necessary. Our players tend to use their skirmishers to occupy terrain features anyway- maybe because we do tend to have quite a lot of terrain in our AWI games and such troops are more useful in that role. In other respects we treat groups o...

Re: >> Shrapnel ammunition
Were these two suggestions any good to you EQUITES?
Or have you worked out a different method of simulating shrapnel?

Re: >> Shrapnel ammunition
We have used the following house rule to simulate Shrapnel's case-shot: - The British player must announce whether shrapnel is loaded before rolling for hits at effective or long range. If a DT (Discipline Test) is scored then the number of hits is read off the close range battery fire row on the Fi...

Re: Brandywine 1777
Thanks for your compliments chaps, much appreciated. It must be great living so close to the actual battlefield DeRuyter - have you ever war-gamed it? Teppsta, the original thread for the AWI amendments can be found here: - http://toofatlardies.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6010&sid=6609c...
