Re: New to CoC - Soviet tactics?

Just some more guidance on deployment Ledfoot. Chain of Command is unlike most tabletop games in that your troops don’t hit the table until you need them to. After years of playing other games where your troops all start on the table, in nice delineated deployment zones, it can feel “off” not to dro...

Re: New to CoC - Soviet tactics?

Another boon for Russian players in the HMG. At only 4 Support points this a beast. The HMG reduces cover by 1 step, comes with a gun shield, and has a Close range of 24”. Put in near your SL in an entrenchment, within 4” of a squad also in entrenchments (to disperse incoming hits) and bring the pai...

Re: Any Big CoC campaigns?

My group has played a lot of multiplayer games. We use Big CoC as a basis, but have made a few changes, mainly to speed game play, and keep all the players involved. Here’s what we do: A. Ban Preliminary Bombardment. If both sides take it, the first hour of your game will slow to a crawl. B. Only th...

WSS Magazine-3 new campaigns!

The latest issue, Issue 100 of Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy has 3 campaigns for fallschirmjagers using CoC, and a 4th scenario easily adapted. Crete, Norway and Monte Cassino. The 4th is late war, using Battlegroup rules, would make for a good Big CoC game. Well worth a look!

Re: Random thought/s on close combat

On a different tack, grenading that officer may have been better. You don’t have to see your target to chuck grenades at them. You could stay out of sight and toss them in. Of course, he might toss some back!

Re: Why is the Sherman List 8?

Probably due to changes in the costs for speed. Average speed used to cost 1 point but now is costs zero.

Re: AP against Bunkers

This somewhat depends upon your definition of a bunker. I am doing research on D-Day in preparation of gaming parts for the upcoming 75th anniversary. Most of the D-Day bunkers were classed as type B, with walls and roofs 2 meters thick. They were engineered to withstand the naval guns, so any AP fr...

Re: New guy with a squad strength (dice) question

Never get in static fire fight with any opponent. It is a waste of your men and of your abilities. Many have already posted British tactics already. If you are using Americans, you have to make the most use of American special abilities and weaponry. The Americans have superior movement capabilities...
