Re: My first Napoleonic

10mm figures are also a good option if bigger battles are desired. The Pendraken range is quite extensive.

Re: Representing engineers?

Adjutant, then extra 2" mortar, followed by extra infantry section always gets my vote. A universal carrier, like most vehicles, is rarely necessary in my view. The Adjutant is still useful when you have 2 Senior Leaders because you can then get both on table to allow the Sergeant to control the bas...

Re: Skirmishers

Hi Simon,
You will find with Lardy rules that they generally do mean exactly what they say and the simplest interpretation is the correct one. But it can still throw people sometimes if they are used to other approaches, such as making Skirmishers harder to hit rather than harder to damage.

Hi John,

Yes seen that but can only be used once in a game, requires 3 ADCs and still doesn’t guarantee that the brigade will activate!!!

Re: Just a thought

Hi Nick,
Can I suggest that you read the "Command!" Tasking, paragraph 11 on page 33, which allows the CinC to take personal command of a brigade at the cost of 3 ADCs. That seems to me to be what you are looking for.

Re: Skirmishers

Hi Simon, Both questions are answered on page 47 of the rules under the Effect of Hits and Firing at Targets in Different Range Bands. There is no additional penalty to hit when firing at Skirmish Troops, but the effect of any hits are reduced by the fact that they are treated as being in one level ...

Re: Crew - what can they do

To be clear I wasn't suggesting that activating one of the men to throw a grenade or fire a panzerfaust counted as activating the LMG team and thus prevented it firing. Not at all. I just think there should be some effect of diverting the attention of a crew member to another task rather than having...

Re: British Infantry Countercharge, difference in wording

Never noticed that before. The general rule on page 46 allows the British to counter-charge an unformed attacker irrespective of the attackers formation which to my understanding accords with British tactical doctrine and that's how I've always played it. The optional rule on page 99 would seem to l...

Re: Crew - what can they do

Hi Brian, Just be aware that Nick's elegant suggestion when applied to an ad hoc team created during the game means that the Team must remain more than 4" from its parent squad or it will be absorbed back into its original structure. In a campaign the Platoon Commander is free to restructure the pla...

Re: Crew - what can they do

Hi Brian, The weapon crewmen are there to serve the weapon and essentially that's it. You normally would use the spare rifleman in most Panzergrenadier LMG teams for other things like throwing grenades or firing Panzerfausts. However, in Operation Martlet the platoon is under strength so in the abse...
