Re: Close combat questions

Good point TT.

I think the key to keeping it consistent is to resolve the "hits" in batches of six. It is slightly more complicated but it keeps true to the proper distribution of hits … regardless of how many.

Re: Close combat questions

RE No 4 I agree with the others that 6 x men die and the remaining hits go onto the leader. Which in most cases would kill him. However, I would like to suggest a slightly difference “PROCESS” in getting to that number. This process would enable us to be consistent between all the casualty numbers....

Re: Close Combat 4 x dice to enemy player

No I don't think it is worse, because 4x dice is running away before the fight even starts, as opposed to getting a bunch of guys killed and then running away. Watching your compatriots fall back from obviously overwhelming odds should be less damaging to your morale than watching them get butchere...

Re: Close Combat 4 x dice to enemy player

John, Thanks for getting those answers. It is very useful to have this clarified by Richard. So x4 Dice in Close Combat is not quite a Rout and not quite a fall back. The matter is closed and I personally am very happy to play it that way as I have said above. But it does leave me slightly bemused. ...

Re: Selecting British Airborne Section with 2 LMGs from Support list?

I'm running US Armored at MOAB in a bit over two weeks' time, and I will definitely not be adding in a squad of two more .30 cals as a support option in any of the games. If you have time before going under the knife, would love to hear why you think any of these support options are gamey. This thr...

Re: Selecting British Airborne Section with 2 LMGs from Support list?

The only way to cost those up is to compare them to an existing option and then shift them up or down a bit based on your judgement. Yup … absolutely. So how does all this sound ?? We have determined that the Rifle Squad and the MG Squad are logical supports for a US Armd Inf Platoon. As both these...

Re: Selecting British Airborne Section with 2 LMGs from Support list?

TT, Righto - No worries. I am using the Excel Spreadsheet which was made available a little while back. So it breaks the levels of lists as follows (I think but I may be corrected): 1-6 pts = List 1 7-12 pts = List 2 13-18pts = List 3 18-24 pts = List 4 25-30 pts = List 5 31- 36 pts = List 6 etc Thi...

Re: Selecting British Airborne Section with 2 LMGs from Support list?

TT,

YUP … both 20 points. The Rifle Squad has 2 x SMG's so it can belt out 18 Dice of Firepower at very close ranges … with re-rolls on 1s for the semi autos of course.

Re: Pre Game Sequence

It’s a case of ‘What the rules state” v “How I believe it should be”. In the latter case: Dice for force moral Dice for and select Force Supports. Place Field Works, (Mines, Roadblocks, Wire, entrenchments etc) Stuka Attacks Conduct Patrol Phase Place JoPs Commence 1st Phase. I agree 100% with this...

Re: Selecting British Airborne Section with 2 LMGs from Support list?

I also agree that some options are cheaper within the Platoon than when bought as a support. A glaring example are Snipers. According to the coculator this costs 3 points making it a notional "List 1". But this is always a List 3 Support. But it also goes the other way where the German "4 man Recon ...
