UK Home Guard List - V8 Draft

The Blitzkrieg Handbook has a number of official rules for bicycles and Franc-tireurs etc. so I am working on bringing the Home Guard list up to date. The latest draft can be found at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JQspqUHnmI9pL5pCaxvetHsgW_o1SkXHNzGLMm9XBw4/edit?usp=sharing Some of the more f...

Re: CoC Big Battles and a solo question

I would go with I Ain't Been Shot Mum. It's a set of rules for company+ actions and uses a card draw for activation with a special tea break card to end the turn. The cards give a different feel to the player sequence than dice that in my opinion is better suited to solo play.

Re: Loss of carrier support.

No, because a tank crew aren't supposed to dismount and fight on foot. As it happens, I have just finished reading several accounts of just this happening, often after the tank was knocked out. The unit in question had been infantry before converting over to armour so they had the skills and confid...

Re: Any Rules from Blitzkrieg for main game?

Yeah pretty much all the rules can be used. Especially the new rule where a unit retreats instead of losing a deployment point when you reach 3 force morale. OR is it 2 ? One of those. Way better. Because who really cared if you lost a deployment point when 99% of the time all of your units will be...

I'd be keen to see what you come up with.
No promises on a timetable :D

Other tanks of note, AC1, 2, 3 & 4 Sentinel, Ram I, II & III, Vickers Medium 1, 2 & 3, Dicker Max, etc.
Someone's been playing World of Tanks. ;) (My TOG is in the mail)

The Spanish Civil war lists would be a good place to start for ideas.

At Rifles show up in quite a few German Divisions until the end of the war. In some cases they were withdrawn and then reissued, showing on returns alongside Fausts and Schrecks.
Were they ATRs or the ones cut down to make rifle grenade launchers?

....
We do not allow vehicles to shoot at parts of buildings on the off chance there might be someone there - whilst realistic it does not make for a good game as we normally play with only 10% or less of the number of buildings that might be in a village or small town
A very, very good point.

Re: Shermans and a Bazillion support points

I have found wargamers very quick to dismiss 99% of all written accounts ....except those on their own bookshelves. I have just finished reading 5 such first hand accounts of Normandy battles and only 1 mentioned a Tiger once and it was backed up by multiple accounts and official unit war diary.......
